BIO “Evolution from deaf child to someone I’m now”
“Among all pleasures, only love can overshadow music but love itself is a melody” (translated from A.S. Pushkin).
My heart made me sing: sing when I was happy and when I was sad; song when I was in love and when I was betrayed by love, that’s why singing is the best way to communicate with my heart.
I’m not genius and never tried to be, I don’t claim to be the best and no intentions to chase fortune. But I’m sure that efforts will be appraised and little thing I do today will be big ….one day. Because I believe.
I was born in Siberia in a family where music was a base. My farther had his own band and dreamt about leaving small town to seek for the music career opportunities in Russian capital. His dreams are now my dreams, the heritage is great thing. I start to sing at the age of 5. My first songs are on old tape. It’s laughable. Nobody will ever recognize me in that singing. I was partially deaf because of decease and couldn’t follow the music correctly. But dad was trying hard. Since my 5s I can say my music passion has been snowballing.
First it was choir for children at the same time – ballet. At the age of 14 I was involved into musical “Krasnaya shapochka” taken the main role (one of the songs for this musical was written by my dad and me). Every great event in our town wasn’t possible without me.
My first song was recorded by chance. At my 16’s I asked one man to make the minus for the track Sometimes (Britney Spears) for me to sing. I was at studio as well. When he completed gave me mike and said “Now you work, c’mon sing it down”. I was 100% afraid. It was my first time, without proper warm-up and I just didn’t know what to do. This fear is on tape. My voice was tense so hyperemotional song when I hear it again. Dad likes to tease me with that tape now.
Then, I moved to Novosibirsk, Siberian capital. In spite of my achievements in music, my parents wanted me to get higher education in economics or science. I chose International relations. Education swallowed all my time but music was always and still is my preference. I attended vocal classes and became resident of music group within student club. And since then, my concerts and contests started. Everywhere in Siberian region! I didn’t sing my original songs but those performed by Lara Fabian, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston etc. My farewell concert in Novosibirsk was on 25th june 2007 and the last song I sang was “Run to you” by Whitney Houston. I cried, audience cried.
I moved to Moscow where I worked and simultaneously initiated my collaboration with musicians. I recorded demos (I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, La Monture and others), prepared the set of documents for participation into song contest in Paris and moved there. During my stay in French capital, I’ve met lots of people – agents, producers, musicians. Everybody said the one thing – “Nobody is interested in just performer, but in performer-composer, make your original songs and you will sing what changes”. One of the advisers was Sydney Gibus with his Prostarshow. I had a meeting with this person and his gladly uncovered some secrets.
As I don’t have music education and actually I’m self-educated, it was so complicated process to make your own stuff. I derived ideas from my head, put them on recorder, and tried to pick the right notes based on my hearing abilities. First song that was composed – Set My Life On Fire. But initially I recorded Not Anymore. Like every first step, these songs are not so strong. Then turn comes for Ca Fait Mal, Miss Lonely, Chaotic, La Haine, presently working on Story ‘bout Me and Like Any Girl. During composing period I’ve met nice dj Alex Menco, who transformed Chaotic song and put more dynamic so this song is on many radios now.
And really, it changed many things.
